Radiation-induced skin injury occurs not only in nuclear incidents but also as a common side effect of radiotherapy, with many cancer patients developing varying degrees of skin damage. Radiation triggers immunological changes that impair skin repair, where macrophages play a critical role. Specifically, TREM2-positive macrophages are a key reparative subset involved in tissue regeneration.To study this mechanism, we irradiated RAW264.7 cells and TREM2-cKO bone marrow-derived macrophages with 5 Gy Xrays and assessed their repair functions.
