Archaeological Work at West Acres Caravan Park, Weston-super-Mare (cotswold2-343116)

Archaeology in May 2019 at West Acres Caravan Park, Westonsuper- Mare. Eight trenches were excavated. Ditches, pits and postholes were identified throughout the northwestern and eastern extents of the site, with at least one area of possible settlement activity identified in the south-east. Late prehistoric/Roman dating material was recovered. All late prehistoric/Romano-British features were sealed by a horizon of soil formation dated to the later Roman period. The soil horizon was cut be a pond/channel of probable post-Roman date.
