Seawater was collected on board the NOAA Ship Gordan Gunter from July 7 2019 to July 31 2019, concurrent with trawl surveys within the Rice's whale (Balaenoptera ricei) core habitat in the northeastern Gulf of America during daylight hours, with the aim of targeting potential Rice's whale prey. Vertical CTD sampling was employed at each site to measure discrete chemical and physical properties. Water sampling for DNA filtration was conducted at 21 sites.
