Anaerobic methanotrophy in urban canals. Anaerobic methanotrophy is stimulated by graphene oxide in a brackish urban canal sediment

Urban canals have the potential to emit large quantities of the greenhouse gas methane. In this study, we examined the anaerobic methane sink in the sediments of three canals in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. We have sequenced these sediment using 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing for both the archaeal and bacterial domains of life at the centimetre resolution.
