Phytoplasmas are pleomorphic bacteria that are pathogens of diseases of hundreds of plant species, including some important economic crops. Genome research of phytoplasmas is important from economic and environment perspectives. Phytoplasmas are very difficult to culture in vitro. To date, only six complete phytoplasma genome sequences are available. Here, the complete genome sequence of a Paulownia witches’ broom (PaWB) phytoplasma isolate of ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma asteris’ was determined.
