A color postcard of the Mission Play entitled, "Finding the Jeweled Chalice, Third Act," San Gabriel, California, USA, circa 1920s. Published by Pacific Novelty Company, San Francisco and Los Angeles, California, USA. Five actors dressed as American Indians kneel at the center around a woman who wears a long dress and holds a gold chalice. At the far left and right stand and kneel more American Indians, some of which point towards the center while others have their arms in the air. Three men and two women stand across the back and look on. Across the background is a set that consists of an arched wall, some of which is broken at the left of the center, as well as trees, and palms. The backdrop behind the set has a green mountain, at the top of which is a white cross, and blue sky. The title of the image is at the top left while at the right is "MISSION PLAY, SAN GABRIEL, CAL.," all in black ink. On the center of the back is the name, location, and logo of the Pacific Novelty Company. At the top right is a square box for postage. The artifact was found within an envelope, which is item .1, along with more postcards that are items .2-.4 and .6-.11. The object is in good condition with only minor abrasions at the corners.
