By analyzing olivine-hosted Cr-spinel and melt inclusions from primitive lavas, we find that the Hawaiian plume has maintained a consistently high potential temperature (~1450–1500<sup>o</sup>C) since the Early Cretaceous, significantly hotter than the surrounding mantle.
