This study presents the development of a biomimetic jumping robot inspired by frogs, aiming to enhance obstacle-crossing capabilities. In this study, biological principles into the robot mechanism, providing insights for frog locomotion and mobile robot applications. Through theoretical calculations and application scenario analysis, a six-bar mechanism simulates the force generation of a frog's hind legs, with a spring mimicking muscle. A reducer serves as the trunk to enable energy storage, and an adjustable single-hinge structure acts as forelegs for take-off angle adjustment and shock absorption. Finite element simulations were used to validate the load-bearing capacity and critical component strength. Multi-body dynamics and particle swarm optimization algorithm were employed to explore the relationship between input parameters and output performance (jumping height, jumping distance), while orthogonal analysis was adopted for comprehensive evaluation. Finally, the prototype was manufactured and the performance parameters were tested. This prototype weighs 150 g, generates a ground push force of 50 N, attains a jumping height of 380 mm, and a maximum jumping distance of 500 mm. This study establishes a biologically inspired working principle and provides a new practical prototype for biologically inspired research.
