Human-elephant conflict (HEC) is one of the most significant human-wildlife conflicts, impacting humans and elephant populations. Human-elephant conflict (HEC) represents a complex conservation and management challenge, arising from the intersection of ecological processes, land-use change, and human development reulted from lacks of proper land governance and landscape transformation which contribute to its persistence. In Peninsular Malaysia, rapid agricultural expansion, deforestation, and landscape fragmentation within the Managed Elephant Ranges have increased the likelihood of negative interactions between elephants and humans .This study investigated the contribution of deforestation to the rise in HEC incidents and identified the most influential environmental factors within the Managed Elephant Ranges in Peninsular Malaysia using ten years of reported HEC cases in relation to two periods of land-use changes.
