资源简介:
Pelvic brooding is a unique reproductive strategy found in some ricefish species. Pelvic brooding females carry a clutch of eggs until juveniles hatch. Ovulation is suppressed during brooding and eggs stay attached to the mother because a novel transient tissue called "the plug" forms after spawning and anchors attaching filaments in the female gonoduct. To gain insight into the molecular basis of pelvic brooding including plug formation and suppressed ovulation, we analyzed a total of 42 tissue-specific transcriptomes including the plug of brooding females and the ovary, genital papilla and skin from brooding and non-brooding Oryzias eversi. The skin, which is not expected to contribute to pelvic brooding was used as reference.
