Pear Valsa canker disease caused by Valsa mali var. pyri is one of the most devastating biotic stresses affecting the pear industry. In this study, Pyrus bretschneideri Rehd. Qiu Bai is canker-resistant, while Pyrus bretschneideri Rehd. Chi Li is canker sensitive. To understand the molecular mechanisms underlying the differences in responses to Valsa mali var. pyri, transcriptomic profiles of these two genotypes following Valsa mali var. pyri attack were compared by using the De Novo Transcriptome Assembly.
