资源简介:
The goal of this project is to quantify the number of years of life that could be additionally achieved across GBD age, sex, and location groups through prevention and treatment of most relevant fungal infections according to their antimicrobial resistance pattern. The burden of fungal infections has yet to be described comprehensively, specially for low- and middle- income settings and vulnerable populations suffer a disproportionate mortality and morbidity originated as infections.
--Help improve patient outcomes
We propose to describe the precise composition of pathogens culprit of fungal infections in order to better inform decision making to prevent and control infectious diseases. This nuanced description of the burden of fungi infections aims to become a key resource to make decision, policies and practice with the greatest impact on population health. We can only address problems that are accurately described and measured.
--Inform public health practice
Our project describes the burden of antimicrobial resistance based on counterfactuals, which can be interpreted in potential health interventions to address such problematic. We will then describe what burden could be averted of fungal infections were not resistant to antimycotics, and what burden could be averted if the fungal infection was prevented.
--Strengthen stewardship and health systems
By providing a baseline measure of mortality and morbidity associated to fungal infections, we aim to fill in the gap of global estimates of fungal infection burden, making it easier to effectively prioritize investment into different therapies across different settings.
