Probiotics are live microorganisms that can confer health benefits on the host when given in adequate amounts. The beneficial effects of probiotics involved in fish nutrition, dysbiosis counteraction, gut health and homeostasis, growth promotion, immune enhancement and others have been well demonstrated. Gut adhesive (colonization) was recognized as important parameter of a potential probiotics. Interestingly, our preliminary work showed that both highly-adhesive gut strain L. rhamnosus JCM 20300 and none-adhesive gut strain L. casei BL23 can accelerate the growth in zebrafish. This might indicate that the beneficial effects of probiotics confer to the host is strain dependent, and the criteria of gut colonization seems not much important. In order to know about more basic knowledge of none/less gut adhesive strain L. casei BL23 induce on the developmental profile and immunity education in zebrafish, the whole transcriptome sequencing (mRNA-seq) was performed at 14 dpf (whole body) and 35 dpf (intestine) respectively.
