Habitat datasets of Poyang Lake wintering swan geese (Anser cygnoides) based on GPS satellite tracking

Habitat provides essential space for species to survive and reproduce. Identifying and protecting East Asian waterfowl habitats is significant to the East Asian-Australasian Flyway (EAAF) migration route. Based on the satellite tracker data of swan geese (anser cygnoides) overwintering in Poyang Lake, Jiangxi obtained from 2018 to 2020. We received 48666 satellite sites of eight swan geese during the complete migration cycle after the data's quality control and status recognition were performed. The habitat datasets of swan geese were extracted through the home range analysis, including the habitat distribution data and the divided habitat distribution data according to the migration period and the individual. The dataset is stored in a vector data format, which attributes table includes species number, number of sites, habitat time, and habitat type such as wintering grounds, stopover sites, and breeding grounds, etc. It can provide primary data for the protection of East Asian migratory geese and their habitats and maintaining regional biodiversity stability.
