Sow-piglet dyad model: gut metagenome Next Generation Sequencing

This study explores the effect of DHA supplementation during the perinatal period on shaping the offspring's cognition through the modulation of gut microbiota composition. Using a sow-piglet dyad model, it identifies the gut microbiome and gut barrier integrity as key players that may influence offspring brain functional connectivity. The gut-level changes that were significantly correlated with resting-state functional connectivity in piglet brains, highlighting the potential of gut-brain axis shaping vai maternal nutritional supplementation.
