Klebsiella pneumoniae KPC - Ceftazidime/avibactam susceptibility

Ceftazidime/avibactam (C/A) resistance in KPC-Klebsiella pneumoniae (KPC-Kp) is worrisome. Resistance to C/A was found in one KPC-Kp, mediated by enzymatic mutation. In the non-negligible proportion of isolates with suboptimal MICs, we documented a higher presence of KPC-3 variant and Ompk35 gene deletion; so, it is possible to assume a higher risk of failure when using C/A, especially in monotherapy .
