Abstract Housing is an important durable economic good for human beings, constituting a fundamental social right and indicative of a dignified life. However, the global shortage of safe, quality and affordable housing is worrying. Considering the brick as one of the main components of civil construction, being the one with the highest volume employed, the present work aimed at developing, based on unconventional technologies, the eco-efficient clay and waste brick (TeBR), stabilized with the encapsulation of solid waste and industrial effluent in the soil, without burning and without Portland cement, with two holes horizontal to the masonry, with no structural function.
