Two microbial mat materials were collected from two different sites--Warabi & Tamago--within Onikobe geyser located in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan in November, 2018. Microbial mat material was submerged in RNAlater solution and sent to a sequencing facility for 16S/18S rDNA amplicon sequencing and shotgun sequencing using the Ilumina platform.
