Oral microbial community profiles in Parkinson's disease

Oral microbiota is important in maintaining local and systemic health. Its role in Parkinson's disease (PD) is largely unknown. The aim of our study was to examine the composition of the oral microbiota and to study the relationship between oral microbiota composition and oral inflammation in PD. Our single center case-control study included 20 PD patients with 20 age, sex- and body mass index-matched healthy controls.
