Assembly of Mus musculus chromosome t haplotype

By generating the first haplotype-resolved assembly of a t-haplotype, we discover a new inversion and eight large ampliconic regions harboring previously identified and new candidate selfish gene families. Among the t-ampliconic genes are recently acquired retrogenes and gene families differentially expressed in haploid spermatids of wt/t males, the cell type where selfish transmission molecularly acts. Deleting a ~1.8Mb t-ampliconic region reduces t transmission, supporting the necessity of t-amplicons for selfish transmission.
