Local habitat heterogeneity scores and associated temperatures for a community of chalk grassland butterflies in Bedfordshire, UK.

This data set includes the GPS locations of 16,091 chalk grassland butterflies from Bedfordshire and their associated habitat heterogeneity scores. Heterogeneity scores were extracted using 5m radius buffers around each GPS location and extracting vegetation and topographic information from associated habitat maps. The areas covered by each vegetation type and aspect were used to generate Simpson's Diversity Index scores (labelled as Max_Simpson). Many of the GPS locations also have associated temperature records, listing air, body and perch temperature of selected butterflies.
