In order to clarify the molecular mechanisms of ovary development to different photoperiod in Nile tilapia, the study compares 3 groups ovarian transcriptomic responses of Nile tilapia in different photoperiod. Ovary histology analysis indicated that these ovary development were significantly different in LD (12 h light: 12 h dark), LL (24 h light: 0 h dark) and DD (0 h light: 24 h dark). Long photoperiod caused ovary development. These ovary transcriptome of LL, LL, DD of Nile tilapia were sequenced and analysis. 988, 992 and 1036 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were detected in the LD–LL, LD–DD, and LL–DD comparisons. This study identifies a number of genes that may be involved in photoperiod regulating to ovary development, which will be useful for investigating the molecular mechanisms of different photoperiod LD (12 h light: 12 h dark), LL (24 h light: 0 h dark) and DD (0 h light: 24 h dark) in Nile tilapia.
