World Acreage and Production of Tobacco by Countries (Historical Series)

Excerpt: Tobacco is produced to some extent in practically every country of the world. A relatively complete compilation of all published data on acreage and production, by countries, is brought together in this report, compiled almost entirely from the official publications of each country. Since official publications are often two or three years late in reaching the United States, data for the more recent years are largely from the International Institute of Agriculture at Rome, and from reports of United States consuls, commercial attaches, agricultural attaches, and tobacco specialists in foreign countries. As official publications are received, data for the last years are revised accordingly end for this reason the more recent data herein should be considered preliminary.
