The data provided are the main data used in the analyses in this study. The dataset includes historical and future:
1. Weather parameters (temperature and precipitation): measured, downloaded from NOAA, downloaded from nearby weather stations, and downloaded from NASA NEX-GDDP
2. Evapotranspiration: predicted by DRAINMOD
3. Drainage discharge: predicted by DRAINMOD and measured
4. Water-table depth: Predicted by DRAINMOD and measured
5. Corn yield: Predicted by DRAINMOD and measured
6. Average annual return of investment: calculated based on DRAINMOD's output and gathered economic parameters
7. DRAINMOD model's calibration and validation
Highlights:
• DRAINMOD predicted free drainage for historical and future scenarios.
• DRAINMOD predicted deeper water table and less drainage discharge in the future.
• Higher drought stress is expected to reduce crop yields in the future.
