Arterial Blood concentration (µM), net hepatic uptake (or release; µmol·kg⁻¹·min⁻¹) and fractional extraction of lactate, alanine, glycerol, non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA) and β-OHB in chronically catheterized conscious insulin-treated depancreatized dogs on a chow diet or fed an isocaloric nutritional support as a constant infusion (ND-C) or once a day for 4 days (ND-4).

On the day of the study in the presence of intraportal insulin (0.4 mU·kg−1·min−1) glucose was clamped at euglycemia (120 mg/dl) and then hyperglycemia (220 mg/dl). *P<0.05 vs. Chow.
