The Implications of Kras Mutations in the Prognostication and Management of Pancreatic Cancer

This PhD research focused on improving the understanding and use of a key cancer gene called KRAS in pancreatic cancer, one of the deadliest cancers. The work investigated tumour tissue and blood samples and showed that different KRAS mutations affect patient survival in different ways. It also found that measuring KRAS in the blood can help track how well treatment is working, especially in patients where standard blood tests fail. Finally, two patients treated with a new KRAS-targeted drug showed remarkable long-term responses. This research supports more personalised and precise treatment for pancreatic cancer patients.
