Retrocausality: Healing the Past Through the Future

This study offers an extended Christian theological and exegetical account of retrocausality understood as the redemptive transformation of the past through God’s future-oriented action. Rejecting any notion of physical backward causation, the article argues that Scripture, doctrine, and lived Christian experience consistently affirm that future divine realities—resurrection, judgment, reconciliation, and new creation—exercise interpretive and transformative power over past events. Through sustained biblical exegesis, especially of the Gospels, Pauline literature, and apocalyptic texts, this paper demonstrates that Christianity is structurally retrocausal at the level of meaning, identity, and memory. In dialogue with modern trauma theory and pastoral theology, the study proposes retrocausal healing as an essential category for contemporary Christian praxis.
