FIRMS Web Fire Mapper

FIRMS Web Fire Mapper provides maps of global and regional (including North America) fire detections in near real time produced by the MODIS Rapid Response System. These active fire detections are produced using the same algorithm as the standard MODIS MOD14 Fire and Thermal Anomalies Product. Each detection represents the center of a 1 km pixel flagged by the algorithm as containing a fire within that pixel. Fire detection maps for the last 24, 48, or 72 hours or 7 day time periods can be viewed online, combined with a choice of GIS layers and satellite imagery, or downloaded as active fire shape files. Note: Cloud cover may obscure active fire detections.
