The GEMAPI competence exercised by trade unions in Saône-et-Loire

GEMAPI (Management of Aquatic Milieux and Flood Prevention) is a competence entrusted to intercommunalities (metropolicies, urban communities, urban communities, communities of municipalities) by the Law of 27 January 2014 on the modernisation of territorial public action and the affirmation of metropolises (known as the “MAPTAM Law)” and that of 7 August 2015 on the new territorial organisation of the Republic (known as “Notre Law”). The exercise of this competence entered into force on 1 January 2018. These intercommunities may, as the case may be, decide to exercise all or part of their territory or to transfer it or delegate it to one or more joint unions.
