该数据为利用最优插值得到的日平均0.25°×0.25°全球海表温度分析数据。本数据集包括两种使用了不同卫星资料的数据产品。一种产品使用了改进的高分辨率雷达(Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer,AVHRR)红外卫星海温数据;另一种产品使用了AVHRR和改进的微波扫描雷达(Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer,AMSR)数据。两种产品都使用了船舶和浮标的原位观测数据,也都包括了卫星观测(相对于原位观测)误差的大尺度调整。这两种产品都是需要的,因为自从2002年5月可获取AMSR数据以来,信号明显增加。两种数据产品的时、空分辨率较以前的1°×1°周平均分析资料都有明显提高。
AVHRR-only产品使用了探途AVHRR数据(1981年9月至2005年12月可用)和AVHRR工作数据(2006年开始)。选择使用探途AVHRR数据的原因是其与现场观测数据的一致性较好。AMSR+AVHRR产品起始于2002年5月(AMSR数据此时开始获取)。在该产品中,AVHRR数据主要为陆地区资料(该区AMSR不可用),但在无云区,红外和微波工具的使用减小了系统误差,因为两者的误差特性互相独立。
This dataset is daily-averaged 0.25°×0.25° global sea surface temperature (SST) analysis data obtained using optimal interpolation. This dataset contains two data products that utilize different satellite datasets. One product uses enhanced high-resolution infrared satellite sea surface temperature data from the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR); the other product uses data from both AVHRR and the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer (AMSR), an improved microwave scanning radiometer. Both products use in-situ observational data from ships and buoys, and both include large-scale adjustments for satellite observational errors relative to in-situ measurements. Both products are necessary because the observational signal has increased significantly since AMSR data became accessible in May 2002. The temporal and spatial resolutions of both data products have been significantly improved compared to the previous 1°×1° weekly-averaged analysis datasets.
The AVHRR-only product uses Pathfinder AVHRR data (available from September 1981 to December 2005) and operational AVHRR data (starting from 2006). The reason for selecting Pathfinder AVHRR data is its good consistency with in-situ observational data. The AMSR+AVHRR product starts from May 2002, when AMSR data first became available. In this product, AVHRR data is mainly used for land areas (where AMSR observations are unavailable), but in cloud-free regions, the use of both infrared and microwave instruments reduces systematic errors, as their error characteristics are mutually independent.
