Cyprinus carpio ''Songpu mirror carp'' Genome sequencing

Common carp (Cyprinus carpio) is one of the most important aquaculture species in the world and has a diversity of phenotypes on skin coloration, color patterning, scalation, body shape and fin shape. Moreover, common carp genome may be involved an additional round of whole genome duplication (WGD) than most other teleost fishes. Sequencing of the common carp genome aims to characterize and understand its genomic and genetic feature. The sequenced individual was a gynogenetic Song pu mirror carp produced by heat shock treatment.
