Nosocomial infections in a veterinary hospital

We examined a collection of Serratia spp. isolated from diverse patients at a large veterinary teaching hospital in Melbourne, Australia. We assessed their taxonomic identification, genomic diversity, and presence of antimicrobial resistance genes. We focused on a group of quasi-clonal strains isolated from complicated surgical procedures, which were found to be chlorhexidine tolerant and carried a IncHI2 plasmid containing multiple drug resistances.
