Number of LPG bottling plants India 2023 by region

As of April 2023, there were 64 bottling plants across northern India. Overall, there were 210 bottling plants across the country. The government introduced the Ujjwala scheme to provide free and clean cooking fuel to every household. The aim of the scheme was to replace traditional cooking fuels in the rural areas such as firewood and cow dung, as they contribute to environmental degradation and also have adverse health effects.
