The Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010 released millions of barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico. Co-assembly of oil-polluted sediment metatranscriptomes of microbial communities collected from near the leaking Macondo well head enables the identification and analysis of metabolic activity of different community members. Bioproject PRJNA25878 contains the genomic data for this metagenome while bioproject PRJNA342256 contains the metatranscriptome data.
