The coconut rhinoceros beetle, Oryctes rhinoceros Linn. (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae), is a cosmopolitan pest that causes severe yield losses in coconuts.DNA from the whole-body of one individual third instar larva (60 days) was extracted. DNA purity and concentration were measured before sequencing. DNA sequences obtained by Illumina HiSeq X platform followed by de novo assembly using SPAdes.
