In this study, Jianshui, Mengzi, and Yanshan in Yunnan were selected as sample collection sites because there were serious rocky desertification and obvious differences in vegetation types and plant diversity. Combined with culturable and high-throughput sequencing technologies, we investigated the seed endophytic fungi and rhizosphere soil fungi diversity of dominant plants in neighbouring areas with severe rocky desertification. The core endophytic fungi of each plant seed defined in this study are essential for a better understanding of species-specific relationships, which could improve the efficiency of bioinoculants applied to a variety of environmental situations and inform the overall ecological restoration of rocky desertified areas in Yunnan Province.
