This portfolio presents the work I have undertaken to fulfil the competencies of the Professional Doctorate in Health Psychology. The work was mainly completed within<br>my role as a Stop Smoking Practitioner in an NHS Stop Smoking setting. <br><br>1.Professional SkillsThis chapter provides an overview of my development as a Health Psychologist. A logbook discusses and exemplifies my overall professional development since commencing the Professional Doctorate. A reflexive report explores each of the core and generic professional competences integral to becoming a Health Psychologist.<br><br>2. Advanced Research MethodsThis chapter contains three pieces of research centred around the theme of e-cigarettes and smoking cessation. First, I present the quantitative study, which investigates the<br>effect of e-cigarette use on smoking behaviour using the Theory of Planned Behaviour. Second, I present the qualitative study exploring the challenges faced by Stop Smoking Practitioners when advising patients on e-cigarettes. Third, the systematic review of the association between e-cigarettes and smoking cessation is presented. Reflective commentaries describe my experience of designing, conducting and disseminating my studies.<br><br>3. Behaviour Change InterventionsTwo case studies are presented in this chapter, each accompanied by a reflective report. The case studies describe the assessment, formulation, delivery and evaluation of the intervention in two settings (face-to-face and group). In the first case study, I worked on a one-to-one basis with two patients who were trying to quit smoking. As part of this piece of work, I was assessed on my communication skills. In the second case study, I worked on a group intervention for patients who wanted to eat healthily whilst quitting smoking.<br><br>4. Teaching<br>A teaching case study and evaluation of five teaching sessions is presented in this chapter. The teaching programme was delivered to students, healthcare professionals and other members of staff in my workplace. I describe my experience of teaching and highlight how I addressed each of the following teaching components: assessing learning needs, identifying structure and content of sessions, selecting training materials, and assessing learning outcomes.<br><br>5. ConsultancyThe fifth and final chapter presents a consultancy case study accompanied by a reflective report. This project involved the evaluation of the Health Psychology Service within a Pain Management Programme in a hospital. The case study describes the planning, contracting process, conducting, delivery and evaluation of the project. <br>
