New Brunswick Surface Water Monitoring Network - Lakes

The New Brunswick Department of Environment and Local Government monitors the water quality of 38 lakes across the province to get an overall picture of the lake water quality. Each year between spring and fall a subset of these lakes is monitored at multiple stations with samples taken at surface as well as at various depths at some stations. This dataset includes data from 2003 to present.

The goals of this program include:
• Monitoring, assessment and reporting on the ambient water quality of lakes in the Province of New Brunswick.
• Ensuring that high quality data is available to support DELG’s programs for planning and approvals; contribute to cumulative effects assessments; aid in public reporting and meet requirements of our partners.
• Conducting assessments and reporting on our surface waters and to raise awareness of the state of the environment in New Brunswick.
