Maternal effects on early-life gut microbiome maturation in a wild nonhuman primate

This study characterizes the gut microbiome of infant and juvenile gelada monkeys (Theropithecus gelada) living in the Simien Mountains National Park. The sequences come from 525 fecal samples from 89 individuals aged between 0 to 3 years old. The sequences correspond to the V4 region of the 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene and were sequenced on a single Illlumina NovaSeq 6000 SP 250 bp paired-end sequence flowcell.
