Spatiotemporal Analysis of Light Pollution in Samsun (Turkey) Using Spatial Statistics and Algebra from SNPP/VIIRS Satellite Imagery

This dataset supports the article published in Acta geographica Slovenica and includes the data and outputs used to assess district-level changes in light pollution in Samsun, Turkey, between 2012 and 2024. SNPP/VIIRS Day/Night Band (DNB) monthly cloud-free composite nighttime light (NTL) imagery from 2012, 2015, 2018, 2021, and 2024 was processed in ArcGIS 10.3. Using spatial statistics and map algebra tools, change maps and range maps were generated, and zonal statistics were extracted for each district. Light emission values were classified to produce annual light pollution maps. When using dataset, please cite also the article: Ozturk, S.
