Samples were collected from 2000-2022 from the following basins: Danube, Dniester, Southern Bug, Upper Middle and Lower Dnieper, Don (Donetz River). A total of 48 samples comprising 1,747individuals were analysed. 1,094of them were polyploids. Spined loaches were caught using an ichthyological net with a diameter of up to 1 meter, while adhering to the daily catch limit. Identification of species and biotypes was implemented by combining allozyme analysis with cytometry and karyotyping.
