The effect of restriction of plant photosynthetic carbon flow to the soil fungal and bacterial community in boreal forest humus

The study investigated in a three-year field experiment how the manipulation of plant photosynthetic C-flow affects the soil microbial community structure in boreal forest. The soil fungal and bacterial communities are important in the soil organic matter decomposition and nutrient cycling, and can sometimes enhance or suppress each other's functioning. Soil microbial communities, their interaction and adaptation to changing conditions is important when evaluating the effects of changing climate to the below-ground processes.
