WT and vip double mutant seedlings were grown on 0.5X Murashige and Skoog (MS) agar media supplemented with 1 % (w/v) sucrose. Seedlings were grown under an 8 hour light / 16 hr darkness photoperiod with an intensity of 110 umol m-2 s-1. Shoot tissues (all aerial tissues including leaves, cotyledons, and hypocotyls) were harvested after 10 days of growth. Double mutants were generated by crossing GabiKat, SALK, and SAIL T-DNA insertional lines and are denoted as the following: X0 (GK_204E06 and SALK_094780), X1 (GK_204E06 and SAIL_175_H09), X3 (GK_008H11 and SAIL_175_H09). Three replicate experiments were carried out. Samples were analyzed in triplicate across three lanes of an Illumina HiSeq chip carried out at the Genomics Sciences Laboratory (GSL, NCSU).
