Gegen Qinlian Decoction (GQD) is a classical traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula composed of four herbs and is clinically used for treating gut disorders and diabetes by targeting gut bacteria. Our recent studies found that GQD efficiently alleviated anxiety in methamphetamine-withdrawn mice via regulating gut microbiome and metabolism. However, its potential therapeutic role in depression disorders remains elusive. We aimed to investigate the role of GQD in depression and its association with the gut microenvironment.
