Biological Resources Inventory (BRI) Direct Observations - CDFW [ds2672]

The BRI was originally created to stockpile biological information about properties owned by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW). The BRI was created to organize biological information about properties owned by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW).

The specific goals of the project were to create an accessible and easily updated tool that integrated with other CDFW databases to house records of the biological resources on Department lands. This tool would assist in understanding the effectiveness of Department land management strategies, improve land acquisition planning, facilitate the development of land management plans and identify gaps in existing biological knowledge about CDFW lands.

Further, it has long been understood that accurate, current information about site level species diversity and abundance provides managers with a critical tool for properly managing wildlands. The BRI was the result of the identification of a need to have comprehensive and consolidated resource information available to planners and managers.

This subset of the database was extracted and provided to BIOS as part of an effort to make the data contained in the BRI broadly available to CDFW, its partners and collaborators. The full database is available upon request.
