Haplotype Diversity in Arabian Horses

Haplotype Diversity in Arabian Horses with Focus on Variants Associated with Heart Size and Racing Distance. To understand the heart size and how it reflects on the horse's performance by performing a series of experiments. In total three horses will be used for the sake of this experiment. The first approach is visualizing the heart size by conducting an imaging technique which will be performed using ultrasound. The measurement will be on the left ventricle (because it represents the main source and storage of blood pumping where the blood volume can be measured specifically) and wall thickness. The second approach is DNA sequencing (extracting and preparing from DNA samples) for the three selected horses; by exploring the relationship between the heart rate and the heart size, as well as the ratio between heart and breathing rates to the size of the heart. The results are to be analyzed to obtain an equation that indicates the heart's efficiency. Finally, the equation will be used to form a software code that can be implemented in portable devices which will be helpful in the future.
