Evaluation of PM accumulation in the Warsaw city centre - Dataset

We evaluate particulate matter (PM) accumulation in the Warsaw city centre using leaves as passive samplers. Multiple tree and shrub species were sampled at two contrasting sites—a street canyon (King’s Street) and an inner-city park (Park Świętokrzyski)—across two sampling terms. Sequential leaf washing with water and chloroform separated hydrophilic/hydrophobic fractions and yielded total PM load (µg cm⁻²). Epicuticular waxes (µg cm⁻²) and trace elements (e.g., Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, Cd, Sb, Ba, Pt, Pb) were also quantified. Ambient “Air 2022/2023” datasets provide context. The dataset supports cross-site, cross-species, and seasonal comparisons, links PM with waxes and elemental signatures, and informs species selection for urban air-quality mitigation.
