aAdult females (5–8 weeks-old) were subjected to exogenous hormone injections to induce superovulation, according to standard procedures [48], and then mated with WT males. The next morning, vaginal plugs were checked and in vivo fertilized ova were recovered from the swollen ampulla 17–19 hours after hCG injection.
