Home Health and Hospice Compare Data

**Overview**
This data package includes information about List and Rating of Home Health Care Agencies, Health Care for Patient Survey data and State data of several home health agency quality measures as well as State Averages for Home Health Agency (HHA) Quality Measures. It also provides datasets over Hospice General Information, Provider data and CASPER or ASPEN Information about hospice agencies.

**Description**
This data package contains the Home Health Care Agencies List and Ratings contains the list of all Home Health Agencies that have been registered with Medicare. To receive the annual payment update (APU) for any given year, home health agencies that do not qualify for an exemption from participating in the Home Health Care Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HHCAHPS) Survey for the specified APU must contract with an approved HHCAHPS Survey vendor and administer the survey on an ongoing (monthly) basis and submit HHCAHPS Survey data to the HHCAHPS data center on a quarterly basis. Home Health Care Patient Survey State Data is designed to measure the experiences of people receiving home health care from Medicare-certified home health agencies. This survey is designed to produce comparable data on the patient’s perspective that allows objective and meaningful comparisons between home health agencies on domains that are important to consumers, Public reporting of survey results will create incentives for agencies to improve their quality of care and Public reporting will enhance public accountability in health care by increasing the transparency of the quality of care provided in return for public investment. Hospice Agencies General Information Hospice Agencies General Information works with many of the Medicare and Medi-Cal Certified Hospice Agencies in the San Francisco area, and is surveyed by agencies of the state and federal governments, and by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Hospice offers specialized care and support to individuals, their families, and caregivers during an advanced illness. The focus of hospice is on comfort and quality of life, rather than cure. Hospice CASPER Or ASPEN Contacts Information contains a list of Regional Office (RO) and State coordinators. It includes the Continuous Activity Scheduling Planning Execution and Replanning (CASPER)/Automated Scheduling and Planning Environment (ASPEN) information about hospice agencies. The information on Hospice Compare should be used with other information one gathers about hospices in their area. In addition to reviewing the information on Hospice Compare, individuals are also encouraged to talk to their doctor, social worker, or other health care providers when choosing a hospice. The quality of care that hospices provide to patients and families can vary. Hospice Compare reports information on hospices across the nation and allows patients, family members, and health care providers to get a snapshot of the quality of care each hospice provides. Hospice compare enables different individuals to find hospices that serve in their area and compare them based on the quality of care they provide.
