D-05, Minnesota Bedrock Geology
收藏资源简介:
Overview This comprehensive geologic feature service provides a detailed multi-layered map representation of Minnesota's bedrock geology. It covers a broad range of geologic periods including Precambrian, Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and Archean formations, along with structural features such as faults, contacts, and dikes. The service's design enables users to selectively view different geological strata and structures to better understand the state's complex bedrock composition. Feature Layers Precambrian Geology Layers: Includes detailed mapping of Archean, Paleoproterozoic, and Mesoproterozoic units, along with associated faults, contacts, and dikes. These layers provide insight into some of the oldest rock formations in Minnesota, highlighting geologic structures and lithologies characteristic of the Precambrian era. Paleozoic Bedrock: This layer characterizes Paleozoic sedimentary bedrock units and their geologic attributes, supporting studies in the state's sedimentary basin development and stratigraphic framework. Mesozoic Units: Focuses on the Keweenawan sedimentary geology and associated formations beneath Lake Superior, as well as mapped Cretaceous formations such as the Albian and Coleraine formations. These layers are essential for understanding younger geologic events and formations. Mesozoic and Paleozoic Faults and Structural Features: Includes fault lines and formational boundaries capturing the structural geology of the region, crucial for tectonic and seismic studies. State Boundary: Provides the spatial context by delineating Minnesota’s geographic extent, anchoring geologic data within administrative boundaries. Geographic Coverage The dataset covers the state of Minnesota comprehensively, integrating geologic data from onshore regions as well as beneath Lake Superior. This allows for a regional view of the geology extending to key water bodies influencing the state's geologic framework. Data Source and Quality Data has been compiled and maintained by the Minnesota Geological Survey. Every effort has been made to ensure accuracy and adherence to sound geologic and cartographic principles. However, the data is subject to verification, especially for critical engineering-scale applications.
